Tip Sheet Ideas from the American Camp Association

FAMILY CAMPS THROUGH THE GENERATIONS
One of the newest camp trends is family camps and family camp programs. With more than 12,000 camps operating in the United States, ACA estimates that family camp programs now represent a little over 10 percent of programming. ACA has recorded a 215% increase in family camp programs in the past 15 years, and there are several reasons for this popularity:

  • Family camps offer parents a healthy, positive experience with their children, encouraging families to grow closer and build stronger relationships.
  • Family camps provide cross-generational activities and experiences—with positive outcomes that continue long after camp is over.
  • Family camp experiences offer children the opportunity to attend a week long camp away from home for the first time with the security of knowing that their parents and siblings are along for the fun.
